After a record-breaking efficiency towards the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, some imagine Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has entered the MVP dialog.
“Why not?” wrote ESPN NFL reporter Dan Graziano. “If the Texans can end this season with a successful file and Stroud is enjoying like this, he is positively going to indicate up on some MVP ballots.”
To not discredit Stroud, however it’s unlikely he’ll win MVP. Per Statmuse, Corridor of Famer Jim Brown is the one participant to win the award throughout his rookie season (1957). Additionally, oddschecker offers Stroud the 16th-best MVP odds (+13000).
None of this could detract from his outstanding efficiency towards Tampa Bay. Within the 39-37 victory, he set a rookie file for passing yards (470) and engineered a six-play, 75-yard drive with 46 seconds left within the fourth quarter for the successful TD.
